BOOKS AND CALENDARS APPALACHIAN TRAIL GUIDE TO TENNESSEE-NORTH CAROLINA
|
The Appalachian Trail Guide to Tennessee-North Carolina contains detailed Trail descriptions (both North to South and South to North) and information on road-crossings, shelters, water sources, points of interest, and general advice. It covers 286 miles from the Tennessee line near Damascus, VA, to the southern end of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park (GSMNP) at Fontana Dam, N.C., including parts of the Cherokee and Pisgah national forests and the GSMNP. Includes three four-colored, water-resistant, tear-resistant topographic maps with elevation profiles (scale 1:100,000) plus the five-color, National Geographic map of the GSMNP which is waterproof and tearproof (scale 1:62,500).
The book itself has background information, first-aid tips, and sketches of points of interest in each section, as well as long- and short-distance hikes of the A.T. and major side trails.
Proceeds from the sale of these guides go back into the protection and maintenance of the AT through the programs of the Appalachian Trail Conference (click to learn about joining) and its affiliated local clubs. The guide is a durably bound 4.5" x 6.5" paperback for trail convenience, printed on recycled paper, and packaged with maps in a re-sealable plastic pouch.
