In 1994, Cordless Pads sold one of the first mats out of the back of their van in Hueco Tanks, TX. Hordes of climbers flocked to the doors, and within hours, all of the "homemade" pads were gone. Having previously used couch cushions wrapped in slippery duct tape, car mats, stuffed climbing packs, or even each other, the velvety soft, easy to carry crash mats were a beacon of light for anyone bouldering at that time.
Now in 2007, the crash pad has become a staple in every boulderer's gear list. With an open and closed cell foam wrapped in a durable material, climbers can now fall and land with some ease and a little more comfort.
Although crash mats DO NOT prevent injury, they are great for providing coverage of sharp rocks, giving stability to a sloped landing or just furnishing you a more low impact fall off highballs.
Our employees have spent many a days jumping off boulders onto all sorts of crash mats. Therefore, our selection is a hand picked one of only those pads that we found are high in quality, incredibly durable and provide the best landing spot for when you really push your limits.
